This belt is unique because it is made from Bhutanese Rachu. Rachu is colorful, most often hand-embroidered or woven ribbon and it is a compulsory part of ladies' costume for the special occasiones: when the woman wants to show a special respect - in the temple, the town hall, in the presence of the royal family, etc. The Rachu ribbons are decorated with imaginative patterns and traditionally lay across the left shoulder.
Instead of having to learn the traditional Bhutanese way of tying the belt you can use the two beautifully coloured ribbons we added to make a version that is much more practical for a modern European woman - with them you can not only adjust the belt perfectly to the size of your waist but also tie a lovely bow at the back. Alternatively, you can tie the belt at the front, which creates a look resembling a kimono.
